Visit from Nanna and Bapou.

Yesterday we spent a lovely day with Nanna and Bapou. The kids have been so excited for their visit, counting down the days! They arrived with wonderful gifts which the children were over the moon about, they are always so generous! The day was spent playing and laughing and having lots of fun!

Today we spent the day at home....we painted our salt dough decorations, did a "race to a hundred" maths game, played lots of snakes and hoses ( fireman Sam themed!) games, workbooks and a syllable rhythms game ( which Mia loved but Fred was not so keen on).

Maths game

Freddie played a lot with his Lego, here he is making his space ship!
They were so cute this morning playing with their "babies"  in their slings! Love it!

Day ended with a visit from aunty and grandad and I popped off to see great grandma this evening x

Need to toughen up our children? I think not...

Some people say home educating doesn't allow a child to toughen up in preparation for the world...someone has even said to me that experiencing bullying at school prepares one for the workplace where bullying is rife??!!!  The patients I work with all experienced cruelty of some sort in childhood - I am yet to see how this cruelty helped prepare them for adulthood. In fact it seems to have done the opposite. If we knew there was going to be a famine in the future we wouldn't starve our children in preparation would we?!!!!!

I have been so horrified when people have said to me that I should send Freddie to nursery to " toughen him up" why would I want to toughen him up? You know the answer I was given to that question? He needs to toughen up so he will survive at school....hmmmmmm I think I will pass on that thanks!

Seal watching

Today we went to a local beach to see the baby seal pups. Unfortunately I only had my phone camera which isn't very good...
We went with friends, the sun was shining and it was a really wonderful experience. The seal wardens told us that they had counted 210 seal pups that morning on the beach so we were in luck...

You can just make out some pregnant seals here..
Mums with their pups here...
There was a lot of starwars talk...Fred and Mia s friend W is I think as mad on starwars as is Fred! They pretty much played Starwars, both playing different characters, the whole walk...!
We were told that in 2 weeks time they are expecting there to be 700 pups on the beach, maybe we will go back!
Perfect day! X

Making a stick Christmas tree!

We met friends at the park to collect twigs to make a glittery stick Christmas tree...

The girls enjoying Hama beads...
And me doing a bit of stick painting!
Before we went out me and the kids got stuck into making some salt dough Christmas decorations...
Fred is enjoying making his own salt dough using cup measures of salt and flour...
Freddie took a photo of all the goodies we made...

A day full of friends

This morning we visited our friends. The kids went straight off to play, the boys in their room, the girls in theirs! So me and N had a chance to share some home ed resources and hav a good chat!
I then took the kids out for a play in the sun. I love watching them play, they are all such good friends!

We took bags to collect some autumn goodies...
Then in the afternoon we went off to K' s birthday party. James finished early so was able to come with us. It was a craft party, the kids made hedgehogs, crowns and fish.
They had a great time running round with their friends playing chase and catching bubbles from the bubble machine!
Food was lovely and wholesome and we all had a really lovely time. All the dads were there to which was lovely.

Christmas crafts, fun with friends and cold winter walks!

It's been a lovely few days filled with crafts and play dates. Here are the kids making Christmas tree s to hang on our Christmas tree...
Making more salt dough hand prints...
And Fred unable to resist fitting in some workbook fun!

We have had cold winter walks....

....lovely time with friends at the park....
...Hama beads fun at friends house...a new craze has been born! We have done non stop Hama bead creations since...the children have gone to bed with their creations tonight!
This morning we went to music class and little Mia had great fun playing with the other girls and playing with the babies...I sneaked this photo when she wasn't looking! Fred had so much fun in his lesson and with his pal D.
On the way home from music we dropped in at a friends and her 2 girls. Mia had a wonderful time playing and I got to cuddle Fred a lot as apparently "playing with girls is boring mum!" I am surprised at how young the gender division occurs...Freddie does play with some girls, he is very fond of playing with S but both children definitely appear to want to play with other children of their own sex.
James was home at 3.45 pm today!!!!! Unheard of! Usually more like 6.30pm. It was so lovely to have a long evening with him. Life is wonderful! X

A busy Friday!

This morning the kids got out their train track and really enjoyed playing with it. Freddie is so proud of the tracks he builds and Mia loves playing on them!

Then we finished making our wands and Freddie's "electric stick". We had fun using the glue gun again!
We were due to see friends but they were poorly so we snuggled down to a day at home.
More workbook fun was had....
We had a lovely walk as the sun was still shinning. Mia took her scooter and we walked to the local pet shop to buy essentials for our fish tank....
When we got home aunty and grandad were waiting for us.... Button pictures were done and lots of games of snakes and hoses!

Our weekend was lovely too....swimming and trip into Norwich shopping on Saturday. Sunday James played football, I did some science experiments with the kids. In the afternoon I went off to work and the kids went biking at the park with James. Lovely family weekend x

Mia making "spaghetti" ( cutting straws!) and Fred experimenting with corn flour goo!

Freddie also wrote his list for Father Christmas!
