Today we continued with the erupting volcano experiments, this time an underwater experiment!
We filled a jug with cold water and a small necked bottle with hot water and food dye.
Popped the small bottle in the cold water and watched an eruption happen!
Freddie was enthralled! He wanted to try again but this time with cold water in the bottle...he found that no erupting occurred...this led to talking about how the particles of water behave when they are hot and when they are cold and how the active hot water particles make the hot water less dense than the cold water making it rise like an explosion!
Then Freddie said he wanted to make volcano s out of egg cartons... So we made some homemade glue...here is the recipe...
And did a lot of sticking....!
Here are our volcanoes waiting to dry to then be painted....
While our volcanos were drying we did some phonics workbooks...on the kids request!
Freddie has started to hold his pen properly, with no prompting...so interesting to watch how they work it out themselves....!
Then Freddie watch a whole 1 hour Horizons documentary on Dinosaurs!!!! He was engrossed!
Am really loving hibernating at home at the moment, the weather is colder and it feels lovely doing activities at home...
