Ice blocks

We put water, food dye, glitter and toys into ice cream cartons and popped them in the freezer.
Blue for Fred, pink for Mia.......easy.....or that is until Mia informed us that her favourite colour now was blue aaaarrrrgh!

The kids got to work freeing there toys. Lots of discussions about the different forms of water; water, ice, steam.
Lots of experiments to see how to melt the ice quickly. Fred discovered that water from the hose pipe did the job quickly!

Ended the day a our friends house! Fun x

Boys hard at work

To allow for our caravan to get in and out of the drive the boys had to chop down  some of our bush. Mia had just been given a fantastic tea set which she loves so made it her job to keep the hard workers hydrated!

Our first camping trip...to our lovely friend' s house!

Pirate and princess party

Lovely day at the coast at our Freddie and Mia s friends pirate and princess party! There was a bouncy castle, swings, slide, bubbles, trampoline, wonderful food and cake and great company.
Mia on the monkey bars.... She was determined to do them on her own...and succeeded!

Ice marbles and lake swimming

We made ice marbles by  freezing water coloured with food colouring in muffin trays. The kids loved playing with them, experimenting how to make them melt, doing maths with them...and occasionally fighting over them!

Then a trip to the lake with grandad.
Mia came prepared with goggles!
All started with innocent paddling....and stone skimming...

...and turned into swimming!
Luckily the water was only knee height. The kids had to run around naked to dry off, I was not expecting wet babies so had not brought towels or changes of clothes! Both walked back to the car in pants! Lucky it so hot!

Homeday with the help of Darth Vador

The day started with Mia doing some painting and Freddie engrossed in play with his star wars figures. Then as it is so hot, paddling pools were filled and the garden watered by Fred and Mia and there was lots of hose pipe fun-thank god there is not a hose pipe ban!

Freddie's snails habitat had begun to smell so we emptied it, washed it and made another for our 4 snails.

Then I had some jobs to do and usually I pop the TV on when I am busy but today there was no need the kids played and played whilst I did my jobs...I think I was asked every 5 minutes " Are you done yet? Can you play yet?" But they accepted that no, not done yet , and got on playing! I think Fred finds it the hardest when I am busy but he entertained himself marvelously!

Then after a fish cake lunch we did some sight word games in the garden. I wrote with chalk Mummy, Daddy, Mia, Freddie, Cat, Dog, And, I in different parts of the garden ( on the paving slabs and wall) and we played a game where you had to run to the word when I called out the word.
This led to me writing the words on pieces of paper and hiding them in the garden and the Fred and Mia were each given a word to find!
Then we realised that the paper was getting torn so we went inside to write and laminate the words. Fred loved doing this!
Then back out with the laminated words for more word hide and seek! To make it even more "Freddie friendly" I pretended to be Darth Vador, Fred was Luke Skywalker and Mia was Boba Fet. Darth Vador was trying to stop people finding the words! There were lots of Light Saber fights and everyone was taking it very seriously! Then Boba Fet needed some Milk so Freddie (Luke Skywalker) was set the challenge of finding the words that I called out and running to the climbing frame with the word before I (Darth Vador) had counted to 10! By the end of the games both bubs could read the words very comfortably. I wonder if they will remember them tomorrow?

Then whilst I was cooking dinner Mia cooked some cakes with letters on them. Sorry that the pictures are of them clothesless, but getting these bubs in clothes in this heat is impossible, even for Darth Vador!

Swimming

First day with Daddy back! Very happy children and me! We went to visit our Friends in Diss and the sun came out so we had a splash in their pool!
Unfortunately the rubber ring was tiny and only just fitted Mia. Fred was frustrated as he want to get in the pool properly too but he got brave and walked in the shallow bit which came upto his chin! Mia was crying because she was frustrated she could not swim on her own and was determind to try but kept going under water! I didnt have any swimware so couldnt go in but James borrowed some shorts and had a dip.
