Feeling a bit under the weather!

Woke up feeling very much below par this morning, sore throat and a bit fluey so we cancelled our play date with T and G and got set for a day at home. Fred appears to have had the cold and now is much better but me and Mia are sniffly now. Poor James went into work feeling really rotten, wish he would have a day off. I worked late last night at the hospital so have done all my hours for this week, that feels great. Last night was the first time that Mia happily went to bed without me putting her down so hopefully from now on daddy can put her to bed and I can work longer evening shifts and work fewer evenings per week as a result. This will make such a difference.
This morning it felt like there was so much to do in the house and phone calls to make and I could feel myself getting stressed as I needed to be with the children yet get jobs done. This for me so far is the hardest thing about having the two at home constantly, trying to fit housework and jobs around child care is tough. Probably feeling bit more stressed as was feeling under the weather. Anyway Fred straight away asked to make more fossils! He is going to have a collection of over a hundred soon! Today he wanted to make footprint fossils. Mia wanted to make her butterfly shapes again, So I made a big batch of salt dough and set them up whilst getting my stuff done... They adore this activity!
Then Freddie asked to make a dinosaur world for his toys and his fossils to live, so we found a suitable box and got the paints out. Mia liked the look of this and wanted to make a Tinkerbell world, so another box was found and she chose the paint colours she wanted...
They painted, deep in concentration for over an hour! They seldom do something so focused for so long.
The end results drying....
The kids were covered in paint ( as was the house!) so they had a long soak in the tub, playing with their Octonaughts toys!
After this we snuggled in front of the TV and had our lunch. The kids are tiring quite quickly of the TV at the moment. I thought I might get a little breather whilst they watched after lunch but oh no, not today! Whilst they were watching I started writing the last post about yesterday's boat trip and they wanted to help me and both dictated what I should write ( see last entry!). Again, I attempted jobs and washing up etc whilst they played but both really wanted my attention today so I gave up, lit the fire and read books together, Freddie choosing Dinosaur books and Mia choosing story books. Then a lovely visit from Grandad. He carried on reading books on Dinosaur books to Fred, Mia played a maths game on the I pad and I washed up at last! Dad carried on reading with Fred and I got to have some time just reading to Mia. As it got later in the day I began to feel poorlier so was quite pleased as the day drew to a close.
I am making coconut yoghurt whilst I write this ( waiting for it to cool) and then am off for an early ish night! James already fast asleep...wish he would have a day off tomorrow, he needs it. I should be in bed too but I found a recipe for live coconut yoghurt and couldn't wait to try it! Since  finding out Freddie was dairy and goat intolerant we have skipped and missed yoghurt so much so fingers crossed this works.... Night!
